Construction of 985 lm of retaining walls to facilitate six warehouses on an 80,000m2 site. The design called for retaining walls up to 3.4m in height, requiring 250UC73 soldiers. The sleeper walls were required to retain; adjacent properties, vehicular ramps, adjacent factory lots, roadways and car parking areas.
A 200m long concrete sleeper wall was constructed with a maximum height of 2.0m and subject to a 20 kPa surcharge load from the adjacent property. Significant rock drilling was required in hard basalt material for the pier foundations. Steel soldiers were 200UC46 material, with lengths up to 4.6m at an average embedment of 2.8m.
Construction of 280 lm’s of concrete sleeper retaining walls up to 3.2m high with a portion of the wall constructed on a 19m radius. This project included all drainage material, drainage pipes, and risers, with a concrete spoon drain and pits to the top of wall.
Construction of 300 lm’s of concrete sleeper retaining wall ranging from 400mm high to 3.6m high – using two different types of sleepers.
